WHAT IS THE MEANJIN UNDERGROUND SCENE?
The underground is an umbrella term referring to live performances played under the ground from drains to caves, formed from restrictions to where live music can be performed due to economic situations forcing venues to close. Molded from the term underground music (meaning unheard) now becoming its own term to describe the scene. The underground scene is a merge of all alternative scenes congregating to listen to music that pushes the norms of conventional music. seeking to encompass elements of punk, grunge, goth, emo, and more the underground is used as a gateway to bring all alternative scenes together.
Good adequate of the scene, all are welcome, no one is of authoritarian rule but of respectful nature. a place of individuality expression and freedom of judgment and control. a place of art, the underground should be colored from wall to ceiling with art as above shuns expression below welcomes. the land at which the underground is healed must be respected and kept clean.
